Solopreneur Values Exercise

Sometimes when we commit to making changes in our business or life we don’t realize that at a very core level there is a deep reason we desire the change in the first place. Without being in touch with this deeper need, it is easy to make plans that we soon lose steam about or we plow ahead without a clear picture of what the real goal is.

Often, the deeper issues are reflected in our core values. We subconsciously try to reach towards these core values but at the surface often make blind missteps or plan meaningless goals.

This values exercise is designed to help you get in touch with the real reasons you are seeking change so that you can navigate clearly towards meaningful, sustained improvements in your life and business.

Step 1: Make a list of your 10 top values. (they can be anything that is most meaningful to you. Examples might be family, integrity, financial security, freedom)

Step 2: Take a look at your list. Now you must pare that list down to 3 top values.

Step 3: And now (I know it’s hard) choose your 1 most important value.

Step 4: With your top value in mind answer the following questions:

  1. Reflecting on my “Pillars of Your Balanced Solo Business” (found in my copy of the “Fist Steps Action Guide to Improving Your Solo Business” ) and looking at the 1-3 areas I have committed to change, how would I rank those areas as reflecting my most important value?
  2. What changes could I make in those 1-3 Pillars areas that would honor this most important value?

Here’s to your amazing future Solobusiness and Balanced Life!
