A woman executive is nothing new today. However, there are still certain fields, and for that matter, certain levels of executive achievement where women are the exception rather than the rule.
If you are a woman executive who finds yourself in this situation, some of the following may ring true:
- You might feel isolated or as if you are left out of important networking opportunities.
- While you have a career that is highly demanding, you still bear more than half (maybe way more than half) of the responsibilities in your home.
- It can be complicated to know how to assert yourself with others in the workplace without being labeled as a “bitch” or “bossy” for the same behaviors that your male colleagues exhibit without comment.
- You may wish for a mentor who has traveled your path but have trouble finding one.
